'95 Demo: I Breaka U Face

from Black Fork '95 Demo: I Breaka U Face by Black Fork

/

about

This is the entire Black Fork Demo from 1995, recorded 3/16/95 by Marshall Stax at 924 Gilman St. It captures the band at their fastest and fiercest, with Jim Nastic playing impossibly quick fills over Cryus Comiskey's dirty but steady bass, as Josh Indar bloodies his fingers and Robin Tussin wails like she's shouting over a hurricane.

Breaka U Face has every song BF recorded that day, including alternative takes which were never released. Audio was ripped right from the board master, so no samples or MCG like on the tape sold on tour that year, but you still get to hear a sweet 50-50 grind by Ed Davis to start off Blue Collar Cooties, plus some random utterances by Ms. Tussin, who seems like she was in a good mood that day.

Lots of people have told us this is their favorite Black Fork recording - it's totally raw and unadorned - no overdubs or effects - but the band was tight and into it. Marshall set them up perfectly and said to just play loud - tracks went straight into the board and were done in a few hours.
